Biografie (english below)

Acts wie eben Son Kite(später Minilogue) Tarsis, Sonnenvakuum, X-Dream aka The Delta,

Time Keeps on slipping into the Future…

BIOGRAPHY (german above)

First there were early childhood experiences in the late 70s, with his older brother and his friends, when little Holger immersed himself in the worlds of bands like Pink Floyd, Queen, Genesis or Electric Light Orchestra for the first time.

„Is there something more …?“

In the 80s, this question was answered almost by itself in the colorful world of this decade.

Falco, A-ha, Frankie goes to Hollywood, Talk Talk, Duran Duran, Queen, Dire Straits and later also Depeche Mode, but also harder sounds like Iron Maiden, Metallica or Queensryche became part of Drop Out’s musical universe.

Then the 90s came and a lot changed …

Grunge, the last great cultural epoch of rock’n’roll, came up and now he was drawn out of his musical inner space to live music as well.

Nirvana, Soundgarden, Peter Gabriel, Beastie Boys, Fanta 4, Cypress Hill, Pantera, and especially later Tool. Until then, musical drawers would only be a topic for Drop Out to a limited extent.

Well, except for purely electronic music ..

This dogma was soon to fall in 1995 thanks to a rave sampler brought by a friend. A few inexperienced trips to the then trendy Clubs, such as the Omen or the Palazzo Bingen, followed.

The real eye opener was New Year’s Eve 1995/96!

An invitation in the form of a flyer, the question “Well, shall we have a look?” And then THE night (nights …) itself. A sea of llovely people, colors and unexperienced worlds of sound …

… Drop Out’s first GOA party and the beginning of his connection to Nada Brahma. In the course of 1996, however, the focus was initially on numerous events in the large organic machine of the Omen Frankfurt, mostly on the Join the Tribe parties by DJ Dag. Again and again, however, he was drawn into the hidden world of the then Mainz underground. The departure from classic club concepts, the constantly changing wild locations, this freedom, creativity and the inclusion of all the senses exerted a tremendous magical attraction.

There was rumor in every corner of the city: „Were you recently also at Nada Brahma …?“

And then there was also a disused radio reciver and Drop Out’s first love for Evosonic Radio. Torsten Mesrine together with Paradise FM became Sunday milestones in his musical manifesto!

Who would have thought that decades later his ways would lead back / forward in this way …

From 1998 to 1999, with the opening of the Signalwerk in Mainz, the nomadic time with Nada Brahma ended and at the same time Drop Out’s DJ journey began.

First assignments in the chill out areas of various parties, in which he also liked to mix wild tracks by acts like the Orb, Biosphere or Future Sounds of London with songs by Hendrix, the Doors, Genesis and of course Pink Floyd, brought him in the year 2000 finally on the dance floor.

Almost every week he celebrated there in the sacred halls of the Signalwerk, as well as at some Nada Brahma Open Air events (Klangwelten 2000 & 2001, Soli Party etc.),

the fantastic sound of that time, which was shaped by labels such as Spirit Zone, Plusquam, BTM (Bochumer Ton Manufaktur), Liquid Audio Sounds or the Son Kite label Digital Structures and, last but not least, the innovative Hamburg think tank Freeform.

Acts like Son Kite (later Minilogue) Tarsis, Sonnenvakuum, X-Dream aka The Delta,Intact Instinct, Volldampf, Digitalis, SBK or the Spiralkinder (aka Midi Miliz, Spirallianz, The Delta and later Extrawelt), but also such dazzling local greats like Lava 303 or Kopfuss Resonator, belonged in his record case. Musical excursions into other electronic genres were a matter of course for Drop Out even then and were integrated.

Soon he became a welcome guest at the parties of other communities.

The events of the Gelada people from Bingen, The Space Frogz with their events in the Frankfurt Space Place (today Tanzhaus West) and various parties by the Frankfurt Psytrance veteran Stefan Ludley (Flower Power, Earth, Aurora, Südflügel, Royal Cinema and Scorpion Day).

Since the early 2000s, Drop Out is regularly a guest at his good old friends at Technoküche, a broadcast on the Wiesbaden radio station Radio Rheinwelle.

And Mainz also had its Sonnendeck …

In the mid-2000s, the Bootshaus in Mainz appeared on the scene.

There too, Drop Out became a permanent fixture in the line-up, also many self-organized parties taking place there. He also played many of the gigs at this time, together with DJ Ex, under the name Lillablassblau.

The Bootshaus became Tikal Mainz and moved to new premises shortly afterwards.

There Drop Out organized the first events under the name Audiomultiple together with DJ Denno.

Small and not always fine …

From 2009 to 2011 Drop Out played regularly at Spaceworkers Bingen.

Then there was a long creative pause, only interrupted by one or the other set published online.

This time was accompanied by journeys through soul labyrinths and doubts.

Then the signal rang out …

Initiated by M3SSENG3R, Drop Out then founded theSignal in 2019 together with him, der Kleister and Aquadjjoe.

In April 2020, the eponymous show started on Evosonic Radio.

Designed as an homage to the Signalwerk, but also musically looking forward, it became a journey back from musical exile.

With illustrious guests like Gabriel le Mar, Mico X, Schlafcola or Drop Out’s old musical Frind Klopfer, sound diversity was always a top priority.

Paths separate in life …

Drop Out’s future is now called audiomultiple NEO(Drop Out&Frinds) whose concept will also develop on Evosonic Radio.
